Orientation was what I expected. The student reps where cool and very talkative. One poor guy there was crying because his parents just dropped him off and left. I can see how being dropped off in a big city right after high school could be scary. I felt bad for the guy. I've been getting my friend Joey to show me around and introduce me to some new people. So far its been really great. The only down side I've heard of is that the crime rate is pretty high.
Classes start Monday and I'm really looking for to it. I'll tell you guys how that goes tomorrow.

They say artists should be able to create no matter what medium they are handed. But if someone hands you a slab of marble, and tells you to carve a sculpture using only your face, you're probably S.O.L.
Let me know how your first day/week goes!
...Hey. Guess who might be joining you as a newb at SCAD.

Steven Colbert?!
Hmmmm I wonder who. Tee-hee. Is it for certain?
It's looking like it, yep. Between spring and autumn is the timeframe for my enrollment, I think. The only thing that would prevent me from going is if I manage to get an industry job here before the end of February--which, while I'm optimistic about a few companies, I'm looking at it realistically. If I've been bugging them for several months now, I don't think it's going to just happen to fall into my lap by that deadline. lol

Did you ever get that e-mail I sent you about SCAD? If I were you, I'd really pay attention to it and do what it says! It'll save you a lot of money. I didn't follow it as will as I should have and now I'm taking classes I've already had. They're fun classes and I enjoy them but they're so expensive.
What I'll end up doing is 1) research EXACTLY the courses I want to take, 2) research applicable scholarships/grants that are available to me, 3) apply for said courses, 4) apply for said scholarships--which, according to the email you sent, should be done after a student is accepted-- and 5) keep my fingers crossed.
I'm going to pester some of the SCA instructors for help as well; most of them already know the boat I'm in, and I hope they'll be able to help me out...
Is there any way you can still take those tests to opt out of courses you've already taken or don't need, or is it too late once you start the classes?
